Audio Reading Service: Listener Special Requests

In addition to our broadcast and digital programming, ACPL's Audio Reading Service also offers individual Listener Special Requests. This service provides individual listeners with personal audio recordings of written content that is not already available in an accessible format. Some examples may include legal documents, family recipes, appliance manuals, medical information, and more. We may also be able to provide Audio Descriptions of photographs, artwork, or other visual content from personal or published materials.

Submit your request, and we will contact you to discuss additional details, including handling and transfer of your materials, and the timeline for recording, production, and delivery of your final audio files. Final audio may be made available to you as a downloadable MP3 file, mailed to you as an audio CD, or both.

Listener Special Requests are subject to the following guidelines:

The service is for individuals with a disability or condition that prevents them from reading printed materials.

By submitting this form, the requestor gives the Allen County Public Library’s Audio Reading Service permission to record the materials described above.

Every possible care will be taken with transfer and handling of items supplied by the requestor; however, the Allen County Public Library, Audio Reading Service, staff, and volunteers are not responsible for incidental damage that may occur.

All recordings are created by trained volunteers to provide audio access to the content, and are not intended to serve as professional voiceover or commercial productions

Audio recordings will be provided only to the requestor, and will not be shared or broadcast by the Allen County Public Library’s Audio Reading Service without express permission from the requestor.

Some restrictions may apply to published materials that fall outside of the Allen County Public Library’s collection policies.

Allen County Public Library staff reserve the right to decline any request.
